If you're looking for information to help you prepare for your arrival in Champéry, here are some questions and answers that may be of interest to you:
From 2 years old in group lessons.
From 1 year old in private lessons in the Snow Garden.
Private Lesson:
At the red “meeting point” inflatable, in front of the ski school container.
Group Lessons:
The Snow Garden is located next to the Ski School in Plan de Croix, 1899 Torgon.
In private lessons, the instructor solely focuses on you, so you quickly benefit from very precise advice for your individual needs. These lessons can therefore be more intense.
In group lessons, attention is given to the whole class, so you benefit from the group spirit and atmosphere.
From 3 days of group lessons or on request from 5 hours of private lessons, a medal is awarded to each participant according to their technical level of skiing/snowboarding. The level of the medal received is evaluated over the entire week and awarded according to the required criteria. The instructors are always available to talk about the medals and their requirements.
If your child followed the Swiss Snow League and has been marked "ready for the next level" please register him/her for the next level. If in doubt, please let our instructors or our head of class know. In all cases, we carry out a test at the beginning of the week to ensure that the levels are as homogenous as possible. If your child has not followed the Swiss Snow League, you can see the different levels on our page my level (link to be added once the page exists).
The lesson is then similar to a private lesson and ESS reserves the right to reduce the duration of the lesson per day or offer you an alternative of a semi-private lesson.
In the Snow Garden, classes average between 5-6 children. For group lessons, the average is between 6-7 children in Blue Prince. In all classes, the numbers can arrive at a maximum of up to 10 participants. These numbers are recommendations of our umbrella association, Swiss Snowsports. During the high season, classes can reach up to 12 children in the higher levels. Our instructors are trained to manage 8 to 12 people in group lessons.
In group classes, a break is planned. We offer water, tea, and a small snack in all ofour group lessons. Of course, you can also pack your child a snack to eat during the break. No money is needed.
For private lessons, you have the possibility to choose your own instructor (depending on availability). You can indicate your wishes in the remarks in case of online bookings. However, it is not possible to guarantee a certain instructor for group lessons.
We favour levels. If your children have the same level, inform our secretary and the instructor so that we can put them together. If the level differs, we advise you to separate them so that they can learn the correct technique for their ability. Otherwise you may book a private Instructor to manage the different levels.
Our instructors speak many different languages. We offer classes in French, German, English, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Arabian, and Dutch.
If you would like to have lessons in another language that is not listed above, please reach out to us directly and we will see if it can be arranged.
The easiest way is to book on our website online. You can of course also reach us by email all year round or by phone in season. If you are already in the village, our office secretary will be happy to advise you on your reservation.
The earlier the better! In high season, group lessons fill up very quickly and we cannot guarantee availability for everyone in the morning.
The lessons will not be refunded due to bad weather unless in the event of total closure of the ski lifts and if an alternative activity is not possible (if you have booked the insurance). In the case of accident or illness, the lessons will be reimbursed upon presentation of a medical certificate (if you have booked the insurance).
Courses are non-refundable without subscription to ESS protect. Consult our general terms and conditions of sale for more information.
For the Snow Garden, no lift pass is required.
For the Blue League, Prince/cess level, no lift pass is required.

For the Black League, we recommend a Espace Liberté lift pass to enjoy our extensive Franco-Swiss domain.
Swiss domain or Portes du Soleil passes can be purchased online or at the bottom of the Tronchey chairlift in Plan de Croix.
The material is not included in the lesson price. Our partner store La Glisse Sports and their staff will be happy to help you.
They can offer you a discount rate on the daily/weekly rental on the presentation of a lesson ticket from the Ski and Snowboard School.
The basic equipment required includes skis/snowboard, boots and poles. Helmet, appropriate goggles and warm gloves/mittens are mandatory for all children's lessons. Dress your children according to the weather of the day and please don't forget the sun cream and lip balm!
In the Snow Garden and in Blue Prince/cess, children ski without poles. From the Blue King level upwards poles are required for the lessons. If in doubt, check with the Instructor according to his programme.
The sooner the better! To get the course you want, remember to book as soon as possible. In high season, some of our courses sell out very quickly.
