Ski Touring Introduction

Have you never tried ski touring and would like to learn this discipline, or would you like to discover our region in a different way? Take advantage of the knowledge of our ski instructors, mountain specialists, to guide you safely on the slopes of the region while giving you the tips you need to practice ski touring.

Ski, Snowboard, and Telemark Lesson Information

From 3 years old for ski lessons.
From 6 years old for snowboard lessons.
From 8 years old for telemark lessons.

Duration: 1h*, 2h, 3h, 4h
*One hour of lesson time equals 50 minutes of actual instruction.

Only 2-hour sessions for Telemark

Low season:
Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 16:30

High season:
Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 09:20 and between 12:30 and 16:30

The one-hour lessons are offered only from 8:30 to 9:20 and from 12:30 to 1:20.

Saturday and Sunday: between 8.30am and 4.30pm throughout the entire season.

Ski pass and equipment

Attention!!! All Persons taking part in ski lessons must be in possession of a valid ski pass!

For children under 18, helmets are compulsory !

For people over 18, wearing a helmet is strongly recommended.

Insurance "ESS Cours Protect"

" ESS Cours Protect " is an insurance offered to clients in order to insure the lessons purchased from ESS Thyon-Les Collons-Hérémence in case of accident, illness, when the lessons cannot take place due to the complete closure of the ski area or in case of restrictions due to an epidemic that prevent the client from coming: border closures or quarantine in Switzerland or in the client's coun-try following the client's stay in the region.

The cost of this insurance is CHF 5.- per day and per person. This insurance is available during your "on line booking" or at our desks.

Where is the meeting point ?

The main meeting point for the private lessons is in Thyon 2000, at the sign "Private Lessons" at the corner of the terrace of the restaurant "Le panorama".

For the little ones, the meeting point is in the snow garden (Swiss Snow Kids Village). It is also possible to ask for another meeting point in the resort (at the Joc or Matze ski lifts for example). Please check the meeting point on your booking confirmation and send us your requests for changes by e-mail or telephone.

In which level should we register ?

The ski lessons are divided into 3 Leagues: Blue League (Beginner), Red League (Advanced), Black League (Expert). The Blue and Red Leagues are divided into 3 levels: Prince/Princess, King/Queen, Star. The Black League has one level: Black Prince. After this level, your children can register in the Swiss Snow Academy.

The snowboard lessons are divided into 2 Leagues: Blue League (Beginner), Red League (Advanced). The Blue and Red League are divided into 3 levels: Prince/Princess, King/Queen, Star. Once you have passed all these levels, you can register for the Swiss Snow Academy.

The levels for the private lessons are only indicative. The instructor will assess the level of the student at the beginning of the lesson.

Can I choose a particular ski instructor ?

Yes, it is possible to request a specific ski instructor (depending on availability) for private lessons only. To do this, you must notify our office by email, telephone or in person so that the information is recorded.

What if the ski instructor is late ?

Our ski instructors regularly have several lessons in a row. It is therefore possible that the ski instructor is late for the lesson. For each private lesson, we guarantee the time indicated, minus 10 minutes, which corresponds to the ski instructor's travel time between two lessons.

If the instructor has not arrived between 5 and 10 minutes after the start of the lesson, please call our office and we will contact the instructor.
